Norma Armon

Giving voice to migration, climate change, and belonging

An author’s mission to awaken and inspire, while entertaining

A visionary acting for a better tomorrow

Norma’s development as an author and activist is rooted in her unwavering commitment to make the world a better place. In her work, she highlights a deep sense of responsibility, compassion for future generations, and a visionary approach to the challenges we face.

These core values guide every story she tells and every action she takes.

The soul of an activist

Every action counts, and each one brings us closer to a better world.
Norma believes that even the smallest action can create meaningful change. From sending Christmas cards to educate people about recycling to advocating for environmental justice, she shows that every gesture matters. Her commitment to taking action, no matter how minor, inspires those around her to do the same, proving that change can begin with small steps.

Guided by caring for those that come after

Our actions today shape the future for those yet to come.
Norma is deeply motivated by the desire to leave a better world for future generations. Her work reflects a commitment to addressing today’s crises—like climate change and migration—so that those who come after can live in a more just and sustainable world. She believes that we have a responsibility to act now, not just for ourselves, but for those who will inherit the planet.

A visionary for tomorrow

Seeing the future clearly, she has always known the time to act is now.
Norma recognized the urgency of global issues long before they became widely acknowledged. Since 1964, after reading Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, she has been raising awareness about the dangers of climate change and the need for action. Her foresight and dedication have driven her to continuously educate herself and inspire others to understand the consequences of inaction.

Diving into the feeling of “otherness” in a changing world

Never Home invites readers to explore the emotional complexities of displacement, identity, and belonging in a world that’s constantly shifting.

Through powerful storytelling and authentic characters, the book sheds light on the realities of migration and the deeper human connections we all share.

Awakening to the realities of a changing world
Never Home opens readers' eyes to the pressing challenges of our time like forced migration. Through powerful storytelling, the book shares a message of awareness, urging us to face these realities head-on. By immersing us in the lives of those affected, it brings these issues to the forefront, making it impossible to look away, even as we are entertained.

This is more than a novem—it’s a wake-up call to the world we live in.
Connecting with the emotional journey of displacement and belonging
At its heart, Never Home is deeply personal, drawing from Norma’s own family history of migration and survival. This personal connection makes the story even more relatable, as it captures the raw emotions of displacement, the search for identity, and the longing for a place to belong. Through these intimate experiences, readers are invited to connect with the characters on a profound level, even as they are entertained.

This is more than a journey across borders—it’s a journey of the heart.
Giving voice to authentic and relatable characters
Never Home brings the story to life through characters that feel real, authentic, and deeply human. Rather than presenting facts or studies, Norma lets the voices of those affected by migration and climate change speak for themselves. This makes the difficult subject matter more accessible and emotionally resonant, allowing readers to connect on a personal level.

It’s through these characters that the hard truths become easier to understand and embrace.
Challenging us to reflect on our shared future
Never Home doesn’t offer solutions or easy answers. Instead, it presents the realities of our changing world and invites readers to draw their own conclusions. Through vivid storytelling, Norma challenges us to question how we understand the future and our role in shaping it.

It’s an invitation to think critically about the path we’re all on.

Never Home: The Otherness of Immigrants
Read More
Never Home is a gripping tale about Russians immigrating through Rumania and the U.S to Mexico. But it also reflects the achievement of the the American dream for poor rural families. Very few of us have personally experienced the very emotional family squabblers, the great difficulty of the journey to where the streets are paved with gold, and the perseverance and sacrifices needed to become truly wealthy. Ms Armon skillfully has her characters jump off the pages to vividly tell us in a way we won't forget. She leaves us hungering for the second and third books in her trilogy.

"Never Home: The Otherness of Immigrants" weaves together a compelling story of two families' travails in emigrating to the Americas and the societal structures in Europe, the U.S.A., and Mexico (with a touch of Canda thrown in) that impacted the family members. It paints a vivid picture of the complex family relationships that are easy to relate to for anyone. The protagonists Ben and Goittie are strong minded people who keep you engaged with the plot. Ms. Armon did a deft job of setting the paths for the protagonists to meet. Ms. Armon also grounds the stories in their time with detailed descriptions of the places they lived and difficulties they faced in making their way to the Americas and how they achieved their goals.

Norma Armon is to be commended for her painstaking, imaginative recreation of a Jewish shtetl community and two unforgettable characters modeled on her parents who make their way from Russia to Canada, the United States and finally Mexico in the 1920s. With no more live witnesses to that perilous and complicated journey, Armon's moving and entertaining narrative is further enriched by its important testimonial dimension.

This is a short read, but engaging. We follow the lives of immigrants with different temperaments and goals. I have never felt how awful the third class journeys on the boats were coming over. The courage and resilience comes through. I really learned a lot about the Jewish immigrants who moved to Mexico and formed a vibrant community. You care about the characters. You won't be disappointed.
